Vitamin Party

I am taking tons of vitamins! I will probably end up only taking half of these each day but it’s still good to try! I’m taking lots of vitamins and supplements because the book The Blood Type Diet recommends good things to take for your specific blood type. This book is a must read. Check it out.

My 5 Favorite Natural Body Products!

I love skin and body products, but I recently heard that you should never put anything on your body that you wouldn’t drink.

I am a Sephora junkie but I have been stepping out of my comfort zone and exploring more natural and safe products to use. After a bit of trial and error, here are some of my new favorites that I now can’t live without.

#1 Coconut Oil

You can buy coconut oil from any health food store, even Trader Joe’s sells it now. You want to make sure to get coconut OIL and not coconut milk.

Coconut oil has replaced my body lotion. It is so AMAZING to use coconut oil when you first get out of the shower. Pat yourself dry just a tiny bit and then rub coconut oil into your skin when you’re still wet. Warning: a little goes a long way! It smells delicious and is so good for you. It’s especially great to use in the winter. You can cook with it, put some on your hands if they’re dry or dab some on your lips if they’re chapped. I’ve read you can even use coconut oil as a natural love lube.

You can buy cheap coconut oil on amazon here

#2 Aubrey Organics Rose Hips Facial Moisturizer

This moisturizer is great for dry skin, but it doesn’t feel too thick or heavy. It looks like a smooth, light pink whipped frosting that you’d want to eat.

After using this product I could never go back to any other moisturizer because this feels so light and natural that my skin drinks it right up. You can get more info on this Moisturizer here.

#3 Aubrey Organics Oily Skin Facial Cleanser

I am seriously obsessed with this face wash. It so smells amazing, like a camphor, eucalyptus, mint party on your face. It feels very cleansing but not in a harsh way. You can check out more info on this face wash here . If you smell this you will buy it. Trust me.

#4 Herbal Magic Roll-On Deodorant in Jasmine Scent

Deodorants and antiperspirants can be full of toxic chemicals. It’s especially bad for you to use antiperspirants because they block the glands in your armpits so that you can’t sweat, but our bodies are supposed to as a way of detoxifing.

This is a light and lovely deodorant and I’m not someone with terrible B.O., but I’ve never smelled badly using this. If you have that strong of Body Odor, its a message from your internal system that you need to detoxify.

You can buy some of this Herbal Magic online here.

#5 Toms of Maine Natural Beauty Bar Soap

This bar soap has a light and calming scent and lathers up a lot. There’s a couple different scents to try, I like them all.

Tom’s has lots of great products which you can check out here. I don’t like there deodorant though, it felt too sticky.

Hope you have fun exploring some of these products.

If you have any recommendations too I’d love to hear about them!

Out With The Plastic, In With The Leopard

I always like to munch on things and eat healthy and organic whenever possible, so I usually have a plastic Zpiloc with me of fun snacks. I realized how many ziplocs I was going through though and thought I’d look for an eco friendly alternative. I found one, and it’s got some attitude. :)

My reasons for looking for ziploc alternatives:

  • I have the time to sit at home and google ziplocs (I’m a dork)
  • They are annoying and expensive to buy
  • They are bad for the environment (Imagine a dolphin with a plastic bag stuck to him etc.)
  • Ziploc bags are made from polyethylene plastic which can take years to decompose (5, 10, 20 years?)
  • That plastic is toxic and you don’t want it around your food. You especially don’t ever want to heat a ziploc or make food in it like this omelet recipe  because when plastic is heated toxins are leached out. Thats no bueno.

So in my search for alternatives I found Snack Happened, and awesome website full of eco friendly ziploc alternatives! I found a fun one in leopard that I like and I got a few black ones too. They cost $10.00 a bag, but when you think about how much you will be saving in the end by not buying plastic Zilpocs its worth it.

Rarrgh

The Pros of the reusable bag, or my “LeopardLoc” as I like to call it:

  • They are reusable (duh) and machine washable! I have never even needed to put mine in the dishwasher though, it’s easy to rinse it by hand.
  • They are FDA approved to be around food and are BPA and PVC Free (things you don’t want around your food.)
  • There is a zipper, rather than velcro for silent snacking :)
  • You can use the Itzy Ritzy bags for other things like your toiletries or makeup, or whatever else you want to zip up.
  • With this leopard print one my bag is camouflaged incase I ever need to hide my snack :)   Like my pajama onesie !!

One of my favorite snacks I call “Rabbit Food”  -Dried Banannas and Cranberries, Raw Almonds, Raw Cashews and sometimes I throw in a few squares of 70% dark chocolate! I buy all these things individually at Trader Joes and make my own mix.

I use this bag everyday! Happy snacking everybody.

Don’t Buy Into All These Crap Products!

I was at Whole Foods today (shocker) and I saw this whole section on colon cleansing products, detoxes etc. and all these products really are so misleading and can be down right bad for you.

Imagine a very, very, dusty, dirty house that no one has walked through or disrupted in years, then imagine rustling everything up in the house, shaking all the dust up… it would be everywhere, AND it would just settle back down again unless you did something to get the dust and debris OUT of the house. The same is true with these products, they aggressively rustle up the toxins and debris in your body (which by the way will make you feel like crap, and can make you sick). If you don’t get the debris and toxins out, your body will reabsorb them! This is fact. The only way out with these products or with the toxins in your colon is through your arse!

These products, (many use psyillium husks) help to draw out and absorb all the toxins in your body, and in your colon (most toxins and disease are held in the colon). These products literally turn into a gluey sponge on your insides, absorbing all the toxins in your colon- but they do nothing to help get them OUT OF YOUR BODY.

The key to detoxing and cleansing your internal system is through either colonics or enemas. A colonic is done by a professional and an enema is done by yourself at home. (I highly reccommend enema’s at home, they are easy to do and aren’t scary at all). Also dry skin brushing, sweating, and drinking tons of water are other ways to help your body detox. Eating meat is the number one way to tax your system and put more toxins into it.

I know it can feel a little silly talking about colon cleansing, and believe me I never thought I would be the one posting about it, but really it’s important to our health and vitality, and it has changed my life completely. I have never felt or looked better. Paying attention to detoxing and colon health has completely cleared up my skin as well. Acne is a sign that your liver and whole system is full of toxins, and your body tries to expel them through the skin.

So many of us focus on the outside and on our weight, without paying attention to whats happening on the inside of our bodies. If we can talk about cleaning our cars, why can’t we talk about cleaning our bodies? If you want your whole body to function better, if you want to look younger, have more energy and glow, than colonics and detoxing are the way to go.

Dry Skin Brushing

One of my top favorite things to do is dry brush my skin. Every morning when I wake up I brush my neked body with a dry brush (it’s a specific brush you buy FYI.. Whole Foods has them or hopefully your near by health food store)

Your skin is the largest eliminative organ in the body and is responsible for one quarter of the body’s detoxification every day. So when you dry brush you are helping rid your body of toxins as well as cellulite and you are also strengthening your immune system.

Here’s a link on how to do it and more on why:

TYSON: I feel awesome.

VAN SUSTEREN: Mentally feeling different as vegan?

TYSON: Incredible. I wish I was born this way. When you find out about the processed stuff you have been eating. I wonder why I was crazy all those years.

VAN SUSTEREN: The food

TYSON: All that garbage I was eating running around,… the drugs didn’t help either.
